This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

We provided reports from the scene when a World War Two device washed up including 2-ways with the police and the person in charge of the rest centre where people evacuated from their homes had to go. We also ran regular updates with the Navy in charge of the controlled explosion and spoke to a local historian about the number of bombs dropped in our area during the second World War.
Ipswich Town's bid for the playoffs
With Ipswich Town's push for promotion going to the wire - the last game of the season, we had a reporter outside the ground providing pre match reports for much of the morning as well as voxing fans as they arrived. We also had clips with the manager, the captain, a life long town fan and his young son giving angles on the sport side of it and the human interest side.
The Budget 2008 - we had a panel of spokespeople from Suffolk in the studio to watch the budget - including a mortgage advisor, publican and taxi driver. We then interviewed them on how they'll be affected by the budget to provide comprehensive coverage of the announcement and what people in Suffolk think about it.
Trial of Steve Wright - SGR FM's news team were at Ipswich Crown Court for every day of the 6 week trial that started in January 2008. We provided voice pieces from outside court with the day's proceedings. On the day of the verdict, SGR FM provided news updates every 15 minutes with extended coverage. We also took the police statement outside court live and did a live interview with Suffolk's Chief Constable from their HQ, via our outside broadcast unit. The following day we broadcast a one hour news special on the case.
Operation Stack - as new plans were revealed for dealing with lorries when the Port of Felixstowe is closed due to bad weather, we spoke to Port, our travel editor and a lorry driver to find out how it will affect and improve the current system - running special packages through breakfast.

9. Events/charities support or coverage
Operation Santa Claus is SGRfm's all year round charity appeal.
For more than 30 years Operaion Santa Claus has raised money for various causes within our broadcast area.
In December every year we hold an on air auction, selling items as diverse as the Premiership Trophy for the day, signed pop albums or artwork, to a humble car MOT. Throughout the year Operation Santa Claus attends (& organises) many charity events, ranging from abseils, driving challenges, golf days and bowling nights to quizzes and fun things to do at the Suffolk Show
It is our intention to make Operation Santa Claus bigger and better each year but this can only be done with the support of our business partners and listeners.
If you would like to help/organise an event that will raise funds for Operation Santa Claus then please contact our Charity Manager Louise Gregory 01473 467544 or louise.gregory@gcapmedia.com
This year for the first time Operation Santa Claus formalised the grant application process, to make sure all the correct and relevant information was provided for the grants panel to make a clear and informed decision regarding donations.
The tougher selection process did not dissuade many organisations, as we had the highest number of applications ever, 75 in all. Of those who applied nearly 50 worthwhile causes who would not normally receive a great deal of funding were helped by Operation Santa Claus.
The 7th annual Easter Egg appeal was a great success again this year, with hundreds of eggs being donated.
The corporate sponsor Ipswich Park and Ride provided three venues in Ipswich to be drop off points for eggs. Also Sainsburys Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds, Tesco Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds, and Asda Ipswich had large branded areas for eggs to be dropped off in store.
All eggs were delivered during the Easter weekend by the Thunder team to deserving causes.
Childrens homes, homeless units and womens’ refuges all benefited
